WAKE Wellness - Wake the F*** Up podcast interview preparation

Welcome to the Wake the F*** up podcast, with Alix and Dr. David, where we talk about living consciously, and helping people uncover their essential self, so that they can STOP sleepwalking through life. On this podcast we’re having raw conversations about difficult topics, and the work it takes to emotionally heal the deepest wounds inside ourselves, and awake to the life inside of each of us. Our goal is to create a safe space where our guests can talk about real problems and issues, and how they decided to wake the F up and become mindfulness experts through their own emotional healing journey.

How to prepare:

  • Find a quiet space. Try to minimize background noise. It’ll make for a better recording and keep you clear from distractions.

  • Internet connection. We ask that all guests join us from a computer with a fast internet connection. An ethernet connection is awesome, but if not, connecting to wi-fi near your router can work too. Due to connectivity issues, we cannot record podcast interviews with guests joining us via mobile device.

  • Webcam. To get the best video quality, make sure there’s good lightning in the room by sitting with a lamp or window in front of you. The camera on your laptop works perfectly. Try to avoid holding the device with the webcam, where video may be shaky. Try to avoid sitting in front of a window where you may be backlit.

  • Audio. Using headphones is best so that your microphone doesn’t pick up an echo. If you have a podcasting microphone, feel free to use it. However, don’t worry if you don’t have one. The built-in microphone on your laptop or headphones is fine.

  • Virtual studio. We’ll be using Streamyard to record, which you can join by laptop or desktop. There’s no software to download.

  • If you need to reschedule, there’s a link in the meeting invite with other time slots to re-book.

What to expect:

Here’s a few examples of questions that we often cover on the podcast. If there’s a question that you don’t want asked, that’s no problem! Just let me know before we record.

Your Life:

  • Tell us about your area of expertise?

  • Was there an experience in your life that led you to pursue this area of expertise?

  • What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in your life? What was your life like before learning it? What was your life like after learning it?

  • What mindfulness practices have helped you the most? Is there anything you have tried that didn’t work for you?

  • Could you describe a specific experience or challenge in your life that led you to prioritize your emotional healing journey, and how did you use mindfulness practices to help you navigate it?

  • In your opinion, what are some common misconceptions people have about mindfulness and emotional healing?

  • How do you approach difficult emotions and experiences in your mindfulness practice, and what techniques do you use to work through them?

Your Career:

  • What’s the one thing you wish you knew when you started your career?

  • Tell us about the best day in your professional life? Or the worst day in your professional life? Did it change your trajectory or priorities?

  • Biggest mistake you see others in your field making, and how to avoid it.

  • What advice would you give to someone looking to grow their career and move into a CMO role?

Wrapping Up

  • What’s something that you’ve failed at recently? And what did you learn?

  • What are you curious about right now?

  • What in your life makes you feel inspired?

  • What should I ask you that I didn’t know enough to ask?

  • What life accomplishment (not career) are you most proud of?

  • What are you watching/listening to right now? TV shows/music/podcasts?

  • Where can our listeners connect with you online?
